Last year, approximately 53,000 students took a DSST exam, with more than 70 percent funded by the military. Tens of thousands of Americans each year save an average of $670 per class by completing nationally accredited DSST examinations that are accepted by more than 1,900 institutions nationwide. More than 30 DSST exams are offered in a diverse range of subject areas including: social sciences, math, applied technology, business, physical sciences and humanities.

DSST exams allow students to:

• Earn credit for previously learned knowledge;
• Advance their careers and/or continue their education;
• Use educational assistance money to pay for advanced-level courses; and
