Will provide enhanced access during the current COVID-19 pandemic
In response to the on-going challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Prometric® and the Virginia State Corporation Commission’s Bureau of Insurance (Bureau) are collaborating to enable the delivery of the Commonwealth’s insurance licensure examinations on Prometric’s leading remote assessment platform, ProProctor. This decision will provide aspiring insurance professionals with the choice of where and when to test – either at one of the more than 300 professional, secure Prometric Test Center locations across the country - including six locations across the Commonwealth - or from the safety and comfort of their home or office. All of the insurance program’s exams will be delivered on the same easy-to-use, intuitive testing software, ensuring each individual has a consistent and reliable experience irrespective of where they choose to test. Insurance license candidates can schedule their exam online at www.prometric.com/virginia/insurance or by phone at 1-866-891-6396. New exams and exam content outlines have been published. The program will go live on June 1, 2020.
The addition of remote delivery for the Bureau’s program represents a positive change from when the program award was first announced in early March 2020. Recognizing the impact that the unforeseen events of the past few months would have on the ability of test takers to sit for exams and to pursue a financial services career, Prometric and the Bureau decided to act swiftly to incorporate the remote proctoring solution in the services being implemented for the program. This enhancement is being made without impact to the original timeline for implementation or without additional cost to the Commonwealth or those they serve.
