Attention: In response to COVID-19 procedures, Prometric has temporarily redirected their Candidate Care staff from inbound phone inquiries to service issues dealing with capacity displacements and cancellations.  If you are having trouble with the online scheduling system, communications to Prometric are being directed via the form on their contact us page. Important Updates: 

• As of September 2024, API will no longer provide remote testing for our core certification programs: API 510, 570, 653, 1169 and 1184. Both remote and in-person testing will still be available for the following certification programs: API TES, 982, 571, 577, 580, 936, SIFE, SIRE, SIEE, AQ1 and AQ2.

• As of November 8, 2022, API is suspending all remote testing in South Korea. All candidates in South Korea must take an exam at an in-person Prometric exam center. For any questions, reach out to Inspector@api.org.

API Candidates - What to Expect on Exam Day

Depending on the exam you are eligible to take, you have the option to take the exam at a Prometric Testing Center or as a remotely proctored online exam.

• Review the ProProctor User Guide and confirm your computer’s compatibility to allow remote proctoring.  Remote proctored online exams are offered using Prometric’s ProProctor™ application. For a remotely proctored exam, you must supply the computer which must have a camera, microphone and an internet connection and be able to install a lightweight app prior to the test event. You will be able to take the exam online while a Prometric proctor is overseeing the examination process remotely.
