Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses (CELBAN)

CELBAN is Canada’s nursing-specific language proficiency exam. Recognized by Canadian nursing regulators as evidence of language proficiency for licensure, CELBAN is aligned to the Canadian Language Benchmarks and evaluates language and communication skills relevant to nursing practice. Nurses who have been educated in another country and use English as a second or additional language may consider CELBAN.

Registration

Please visit www.celbancentre.ca to register to take the CELBAN.

Within three (3) business days of submitting your registration through the CELBAN Centre, you will receive an eligibility number to schedule your CELBAN computer-based test (CBT) appointment through Prometric. Please contact the CELBAN Centre at Touchstone Institute if you do not receive an eligibility number after three business days.

Scheduling

NOTE: You must complete both the CELBAN CBT and speaking interview within 14 days of one another. Please keep this in mind when scheduling your CELBAN CBT appointment through Prometric. 

Cancellations & Rescheduling

If you attempt to cancel your test through Prometric, you will be subject to a $35 fee paid directly to Prometric. To avoid this fee, cancel your test using the CELBAN Test Cancellation Request Form. Please visit www.celbancentre.ca for further information on test cancellation policies.

If you wish to reschedule your CELBAN CBT appointment through Prometric, you may do so by using the links located in the sidebar or by contacting Prometric's Regional Registration Center. There is no charge for changing an appointment if the change is made 30 or more days before its scheduled date; however, if you are rescheduling your appointment between 5 - 29 days before, you will be subject to reschedule fee of $35 paid directly to Prometric. Reschedules within 5 days of a scheduled appointment are not permitted through Prometric, however, examinees can submit the CELBAN Test Reschedule Request Form to request a change. A CAN$ 150 fee will apply.
