American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM)
Exam Eligibility
If your candidate ID number is on the list of this year’s confirmed General Exam registrants posted to the ACVIM website, you are eligible to sit for the examination.
As a reminder, candidates who are retaking any sections of the exam must select their appropriate sections when scheduling; and candidates who are taking the exam for the first time are required to take the compensatory single-section exam.
Exam Scheduling
Candidates have the option to take the examination either at a Prometric Test Center or via ProProctor™, Prometric’s live online proctoring system. Candidates do not need to pay a fee to Prometric when scheduling an examination.

Testing accommodations
If you require testing accommodations, you cannot schedule your test online. If you applied for testing accommodations and have received written ACVIM approval for accommodations, please visit https://www.prometric.com/contact-us to request scheduling. If you have not received written approval for a test accommodation, please contact ACVIM at finn@acvim.org.
Testing accommodation includes but is not limited to: extended time, private rooms, additional testing supports, translational dictionaries, etc.
Prepare for your Test Center exam
- Review your appointment confirmation email to confirm your appointment time.
- Review driving directions. Allow sufficient travel time including traffic, parking, locating the test center, and checking in. Depending on the location of the testing facility, parking fees may apply. Prometric does not validate parking.
- Prometric is unable to provide a completely noise-free environment. Consider bringing your own soft ear plugs or use the test center-provided headphones.
- Arrive for your exam at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time, regardless of whether your appointment is at a Test Center or remotely proctored. If you are late in arriving, you will not be allowed to test and will forfeit your exam fee.

Prepare for your remote exam

- Check your computer meets the technical requirements: click here
- Your computer also must support resolution of 1920x1080. Please note that the system check does not check this technical requirement so this must be done manually.
- Ensure you have a clear, orderly, and well-lit room or workspace ready.
- Remove any materials that may assist you in the exam.
- Make sure you know what to expect when your exam appointment starts by reading the ProProctor User Guide.
- Arrive for your exam at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time, regardless of whether your appointment is at a Test Center or remotely proctored. If you are late in arriving, you will not be allowed to test and will forfeit your exam fee.
- Tablets, Chromebooks, Corporate/University machines and company-provided machines are not compatible with online proctoring.

Identification requirements
You will be required to present one valid, government-issued photo ID with a signature (e.g., driver's license or passport). If you are testing outside of your country of citizenship, you must present a valid passport. If you are testing within your country of citizenship, you must present either a valid passport, driver's license, national ID or military ID. The identification document must be in Latin characters and contain your photograph and signature. All other items must be locked in a locker for test security purposes (if you take your exam in a Center) or removed from your testing area (if you take your test remotely).
The name on the identification must match the name that appears on your examination application. If there is a discrepancy, you must notify ACVIM at finn@acvim.org at least 14 days before the examination. Your middle name is not considered when matching the name on your ID to your application. Name changes or corrections cannot be made within 7 business days of the scheduled testing date. If you do not have your acceptable identification, you will not be permitted to take the exam. All ID’s must be legibly signed as well.
Reschedule/Cancel Policy
There is no charge for changing or cancelling more than 60 days before your appointment date. There is a $35 fee paid to Prometric for changing or cancelling an appointment 31-60 days before your appointment date. There is a $50 fee for changing or cancelling an appointment 5 to 29 days before your appointment date.

Note that all exam schedule changes and cancellations must be made directly with Prometric. A voice mail message is not an acceptable form of requesting an appointment be rescheduled or cancelled.
No changes may be made fewer than 5 days before your appointment.
