Information About the DHA
Who We Are
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) was created in June 2007, by Law 13 issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai. As the strategic health authority for the Emirate of Dubai, the DHA is empowered to set policies and strategies for health and to assure the application of those health policies and strategies. His Excellency Dr. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali is the Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, our city has emerged as a global benchmark—not only in innovation and economic growth but also in quality of life, well-being, and human development.
Guided by this vision, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has approved a transformative roadmap to elevate Dubai’s healthcare system—ensuring it remains responsive to the evolving needs of our population and advances overall health and well-being.
A core pillar of this strategy is a clear and measurable objective: to position Dubai among the world’s top 10 cities for healthy life expectancy. This goal reflects His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed’s directive to build a healthcare model that is resilient, future-ready, and grounded in excellence and sustainability.
Achieving this vision—alongside the broader ambitions of Dubai's 2033 Vision, the Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33)—demands a collective and sustained effort. It calls for collaboration across all sectors, leveraging the strengths of our institutions, our partners, and the talent within the Dubai Health Authority.
Anchored by our core values and guiding principles, we remain resolute in our commitment to service, ensuring our healthcare system is aligned with the needs of our society and the diverse populations we serve. Together with our partners, we are not only addressing today’s healthcare challenges, but we are actively shaping the future of healthcare for generations to come. We recognize that health is the foundation of prosperity, and we are dedicated to laying the groundwork for a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
We are confident that the strategic objectives of the health sector are a shared national priority. Through continued partnerships, innovation, and collective determination, we will build a globally recognized health system—one that inspires, delivers, and thrives, setting the standard for healthcare excellence.
